Information for cleaning protective clothing
- Veils
IMPORTANT! Do not run any veil through the washing machine. Always separate the veils from the bee suits or bee jackets before washing. Run warm water in a sink and add some mild detergent, like Dawn dish soap. Wash the veil in the sink carefully, rinse and hang to dry.
- Jackets
Remove veil completely from jacket before washing. Wash jacket with other beekeeping clothing in cool water with a mild detergent. Avoid washing bee clothing with other clothing so it doesn't stain the other clothes. Tumble dry on low heat or hang to dry.
- Suits
Remove veil completely from suit before washing. Wash suit with other beekeeping clothing in cool water with a mild detergent. Avoid washing bee clothing with other clothing so it doesn't stain the other clothes. Tumble dry on low heat or hang to dry.
- Helmets
Remove the veil from the helmet and wipe the helmet inside and out with a clean wet rag to remove propolis, wax and dirt. Allow to air dry before replacing the veil.
- Gloves
IMPORTANT! Do not wash leather beekeeping gloves in the washing machine or in the sink; the leather areas of the gloves will be ruined in the water. You can wipe the gloves with a wet rag to remove debris, but we do not suggest using anything else to remove the propolis, as many other products that you may use could contain chemicals which would be harmful to the bees.
